Foundation of SWARSANSKAR

On the auspicious day of Dussera, in 1997, ‘Swar-Sanskar’ was founded. Love for music attract many students to this institution. To turn this love into a passion is a main aim of ‘Swar-Sanskar’. Students are given guidance as to what is appropriate what is not. The Institution also keeps in mind individual interests and steps are taken to mould the students accordingly to help them reach their goal.

Year 1989

In the year 1989, Shri Borwankar secured the degree of ‘Sangeet Visharad’ from ‘Akhil Bhartiya Gandharv Mahavidhyalaya’.

Year 1990-1996

From the year 1990 to 1996, Shri Borwankar went on to become the Administrator of Akhil Bhartiya Gandharv Mahavidhyalaya, Vashi, Navi Mumbai, one of the oldest and largest institute in the Art field of Classical Music.

Year 1997

In 1997 Milind Borwankar founded his own institute of music Swar Sanskar with the main aim to turn the love for music in the students into passion for music.

Milind Borwankar participated in the stage performances as an Actor-Singer. Notable among his acting-singing roles were: as Kalidas in Play ‘Sangeet Ashadhatil Ek Diwas’ & as Kachadev in ‘Sageet Yayati Devyani’. In ‘Sangeet Sanshay Kallol’ he played the role of Ashwin Sheth in which he was awarded Best Actor-Singer in the presence of Screen Legend “Nana Patekar”.

Yet another accolade was by way of an award of ‘Gunijan Gaurav Puraskar' by cultural authority ‘Sanskar Bharti’. Shri Milind Borwankar Professionally played the key role of Character ‘Appa Belvelkar’ in V.V. Shirvadkar’s (‘Kusumagraj’) Legendary Marathi Play “Natsamrat”, known for its reach literature. He has done several shows of “Natsamrat” all over Maharashtra. It was directed by Shri Ramkrishna Gadgil.

Who we are

Mr. Milind Borwankar, 'the Guru' ,'the Mentor'; sowed the first seed of foundation of ‘Swar-Sanskar’ in 1987. His initiation to Classical Music was under Shri Dinkar Patwardhan. Thereafter he was fortunate to receive valuable guidance from Pt. Raja Kale, Pt. Ratnakar Pai, Pt. V. R. Athavale and Dr. Ram Deshpande.

He also learnt Tabla from Shri Madhukar Samant. A close associate of famous Music Director C. Ramchandra, Late Pt. Neelkanth Abhyankar imparted expert coaching in the fusion of Classical Music and Light Music.

Mr. Borwankar took to music at an early stage despite having a prolific career in engineering, drawing and designing for an American company. In 1988 he achieved 'Sangeet Visharad’ from 'Gandharv Mahavidhyalaya’. He also worked as an administrator in Gandharv Mahavidhyalaya - Vashi.

“Sabda Pradhan Gayaki” meaning to give as much importance to lyrics, and how words should be treated so as to project a correct picture and feel of any song, were taught to him by great poet and composer-singer Pt. Yashwant Dev. Advanced techniques of harmonium playing for Shri Borwankar were imparted by Pt. Manohar Chimote, Pt. Vishwanath Pendharkar and Pt. Tulsidas Borkar.

We at SwarSanskar give students the guidance as to what is appropriate what is not. The Institution also keeps in mind individual interests and steps are taken to mould the students accordingly to help them reach their goal. Merely giving exams by learning Ragas is not the main focus nor is the focus on reproducing Hit numbers from films. Rather the entire focus is on exposure to many areas covering Music, including performance. We believe age is no bar for learning music. Therefore students from age group 3 to 70 years are eligible to learn and enjoy musical journey.

How To Mould The Pupils

Grooming Personality

The pupils are individually groomed in tone cultivation, blending of voice culture in keeping with rhythm, range increment of sound, breathing technique, tonal expressions, body language, memory and listening skills.

Moulding Beginners

‘Swar-Sanskar’ molds the beginners to confidently grow out of ‘student mode’ and enter the ‘performer mode’. For this students are offered opportunity to perform on stage from within the first six months of joining.

Stage Performances

Frequent stage performances boost their confidence level which in turn gives immense satisfaction to the students.

Star Performer

‘Swar-Sanskar’ is well-endowed to enable budding students to frequently express themselves on various platforms in order to gain self-confidence, helping them to earn association of the music-loving audiences and in turn making them 'Star Performers'
